Highland Lakes Retired Teachers Association is a local chapter of TRTA (Texas Retired Teachers Association) which is open to all Texas public school retirees; teachers, bus drivers, administrators, cafeteria workers. If you receive a TRS annuity, you can JOIN TRTA and any local chapter of TRTA convenient to you. HLRTA and TRTA are dedicated to supporting retired public school retirees through advocacy, community involvement, and providing opportunities for social and professional networking. Our members have a wealth of experience and knowledge that they bring to our organization, and we work together to make a difference in our community. HLRTA members include teachers, administrators, school secretaries and finance folks and a bus driver! Meeting programs are focused on topics of interest (gardening or a field trip), relevance (promote the passing of Prop 9 in the fall general election), and food (snacks and 2 luncheons a year).

At the first meeting of the 2025-26 year, the Superintendents from local school districts spoke to retired teachers about the state of their District. L-R: Carol Rose, President Highland Lakes Chapter of Texas Retired Teachers Association; Burnet CISD - Dr. Aaron Peña; Marble Falls ISD - Dr. Jeff Gasaway; Llano ISD - Mr. Mac Edwards.
Several HLRTA members attended the District 13 Fall Conference in San Marcos, all proudly wearing red HLRTA shirts.
Below, Highland Lakes banner shows off unique green color on the portable banner.
